How UCAN begins

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with cancer and is in need of assistance, contact the United Cancer Assistance Network (UCAN) at 573-776-1892 or 1-877-776-1892 and speak with a volunteer or leave a message and your call will be returned promptly. The UCAN office is located in Three Rivers Healthcare North with office hours of 8 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday.

Each request for assistance requires an application. This procedure begins with your phone call to UCAN where a trained volunteer will begin the application process by gathering preliminary information. After the application process is completed, the request will be evaluated by the Board of Directors as required. All applicants will be notified of program qualification within ten (10) days of their request.

UCAN provides critical assistance to cancer patients
Service Programs

UCAN provides critical assistance free of charge to cancer victims who otherwise could not afford, or their insurance coverage will not provide for, the residual expenses associated with battling their disease. UCAN makes several resources available to qualifying patients including:

Nutritional supplements. Eligible patients may receive nutritional supplements on a monthly basis.
Prescription expenses. UCAN may help to locate prescription medication assistance and, in some cases, may purchase oral medications for cancer patients for a brief period of time.
Transportation assistance. When needed, UCAN may help make arrangements for transportation in association with cancer treatments. Transportation assistance is limited to the resources available.
Medical supplies. UCAN may also help assist with obtaining supplies needed, within their limitations, to care for the cancer patient.
Financial aid to support the activities of daily living. UCAN may be able to provide support in paying utility bills, grocery expenses or buying necessary household items.

A monthly limit applies to each qualifying patient. However, in certain instances, UCAN's Board of Directors will review special cases where patients' needs exceed the per patient limit.
